Weekend Wishes

It's a bit wet here today so I wish I had a pair of these Pip Duck darlings to potter around the place in.

Wishing you all a sunny weekend, see you on Monday.

Sold

Kelsey Grammar is starting afresh so it's out with the old real estate to make way for the new. His 8 bedroom house in Bridgehampton, New York apparently just sold two days ago for the asking price of 9.95 big ones.

A quick look at it here.

My favourite part of the house.

The Carnival Is Over

Remember when a local Show Day holiday actually meant going to the show.  Now, not so much.  It's a shame in some ways but sadly I don't rue the lazy morning I've had at home doing absolutely nothing.  If you're motivated than me, here is some info.

5 things you didn't need to know

1. Rob Lowe is not replacing Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. Dammit, I would have started watching.
2. Jodie Foster says Mel Gibson is "incredibly loving and sensitive".  Uhmm right, as long as you're not Jewish or dating him.
3. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel broke up last week. The split heard around the corner.
4. Liz Hurley will be back on the small screen (and by that I don't mean Shane Warne's mobile phone screen) playing the villain Veronica Cale in the new Wonder Woman series.
5. The teal Reed Krakoff ribbon bag sold out around the world after Michelle Obama was seen arriving at a parent-teacher conference toting it.

Find of the Day

Today my inbox was greeted by an email from Peter's of Kensington proclaiming their 700th newsletter.  Who am I to resist an invitation to browse.  As I was actually off to borrow some ramekins from my sister to make individual Irish stew pies for dinner tonight (just call me Martha), this cute set jumped out at me.

If you're not well acquainted with Peter's of K the best thing about them is their huge range of top shelf products for bottom shelf prices!  These Emile Henry lovelies are handmade in France, are microwave, oven, freezer and dishwasher friendly and come with a 12 month warranty!

Best part yet, $15 for the set (instead of $39)!  Buy them online here (I just did) or if
you're in Sydney pop into their store for the full Peter's of K experience.
Their address at the bottom of the page here.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Addressing Dressing Rooms

As I rustle through my double wardrobe this morning for something to wear, I'm struck down with envy for these great dressing rooms.  Of course in a little house, I could never sacrifice the space (shame on me) for one of these lookers but one day...

Sigh, back to reality then.

Find of the Day

It's always so exciting when a new follower joins in, especially when your blog is just starting to grow and it feels like every new visitor is confirmation that there really is someone out there :) This morning I was delighted to read a comment left by this lovely new reader at The Zhush. Of course I wasted no time popping over to see what it was all about and have a browse through zhush.com  It was there I spotted what would definitely be my Find of the Day...

...these handsome alchemy trays.

You can buy the set of 3 here for $180.  If you live in the US shipping is free for any
order over $100.  If you don't, you can contact her here for a quote.

I love them.

Vogue Cover

Rihanna is the new cover girl for American Vogue (April issue) and hasn't the glam factor been upped since her last visit with them (Teen Vogue) in 2007!

Designer Spotlight: Christina Murphy

After I saw Christina Murphy's beautiful bathroom yesterday morning on Coco Cozy I had to find out more about her and her work.  Named one of America's Top 100 Designers by House Beautiful, she is known for bringing out the best in her client's individual style where she finds the balance between beautiful and practical.  I love that.  It's the best possible result when a space reflects the individual occupying it and not just the flair of the designer pulling it together.

There's nothing about this living room I don't love (OK maybe the mirror, I'd have this one instead). For me it strikes the perfect balance of formal vs informal in a living room.  Believe me, I'll be keeping this picture on file FOREVER in case I should ever be lucky enough to need it for reference!

I've would love a living room large enough for a little corner nook like this.

The sparkling splash back is a jaunty feature don't you think.

I like the carpet in here...

...and in here too actually.

Downtown nursery.

A relatively informal space in the same loft.

A bit of pizazz for the bathroom.

This one is still my favourite though - the tiles, the wallpaper, the  vanity (look at the doors!), the shower itself.  Perfect.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Find of the Day

I don't know if I've ever mentioned it but awhile ago my beloved Kindle met an untimely end under the wheel of a reversing car and while I haven't yet replaced it, when I do this Kate Spade cover is the one I'm going to get for it.

Buy it here for $69.99

Now I wonder if it's tyre proof?

Monday Dreaming

It's time for another Monday dream house and this one, of the Nantucket clapboard variety, is quite lovely.  Cryin' shame, it's only a summer house.

I love the pair of mirrors in the living room below, as well as the stencilled floors in the kitchen.

Now, I get it, the cow cut-out is a nod to the owners' Texas heritage and TH believes it "keeps the dining room mood light".  I'm no expert but it seems to me it keeps the mood of the dining room hysterical not light.  Sorry TH but a cow cut-out?  Really?  It's ridiculous.

This hallway and entrance are wonderful.  I'm a fool for white paint and dark wood combos.  I'd love to see what is framed in the picture box.

You can see more pictures and read all about this home here.

Find Of The Day

I found this cute wire lantern from Australian homewares brand Mozi when searching for their pear lanterns as featured in the Sunday Telegraph yesterday.

Buy it here for $14.95.

Chanel Ads

Last week Chanel dropped this teaser for their new Coco Mademoiselle fragrance advertisement featuring Keira Knightley.  Watch it below, it's rather cool.  Apparently the full version is due out sometime Monday morning.

Speaking of Chanel and celebrity endorsement, in case you missed it Blake Lively is the new face of the Mademoiselle handbag.

Lonny Love

I read through the latest issue of Lonny this morning and here are 3 things I loved.

Buccellati silver leaves in Jennifer Bandier's home.

The (new to me) Rubie Green ad.

These gorgeous built-ins (far too drab a name for their fabulousness).  Love everything about them!

If you want to see more, check out the current issue here.
